About Our Name

We are named after a place in Scotland where God did great things and where God won many great victories. When the Reformation of the 16th Century came to Scotland it began in the small town of St. Andrews. It was there that Patrick Hamilton and George Wishart began circulating the writings of Martin Luther and where John Knox was converted and began to preach. From there the truths of the Good News spread to and transformed the entire nation and eventually were instrumental in shaping much of the western world. Our historical roots as Presbyterians are there and the Reformed Theology that we hold also was the theology of those men and women that God claimed for His own so long ago. It is not only the name but even more is the legacy of faith and hope in the transforming power of the Good News that we step into at St. Andrews.More on the Reformation in Scotland
