What We Believe
We believe that there is one true and living God who exists as a Trinity – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – and who has made all things for His own glory. God has revealed Himself in the Bible, which has been inspired by His Holy Spirit and which instructs us about what we are to believe and how we are to live.
We believe that God has made man in His image for the purpose of glorifying and enjoying God. We believe that in the first sin of our first parents that sin and death came into the world and that all men are now damaged and estranged from God. Because all men are now by nature sinners our souls are dead our minds are darkened, our hearts are deceitful, and our wills are corrupt.
God has not left us in darkness and in danger of his just judgement, but has come to give us life, to offer pardon for all of our sins and to reconcile us to fellowship with Him. This was done by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth who is both truly God and also a real man. In the fullness of time God the Father sent His unique Son into the world to die as a ransom in the place of sinners. Whoever trusts in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross is totally forgiven, accepted as righteous by God and is promised eternal life in the presence of God. Those who have come to believe in Jesus Christ as Savior by trusting in the finished work of His cross are significantly changed through out this life. We are not promised that we will be sinless or that we will be placed beyond the hardships and losses of this fallen world. We are promised that as out “outer” man undergoes decay that our “inner” man will be renewed. We are given real faith to believe in God’s word, a growing love for others, and a true hope for His work in us in this life as well as the life to come. We are made able to die to our demanding self centeredness and to live more and more according to God’s purpose for us.
