Adult Education
The Adult Education ministry of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church fulfills two very important purposes for us as a church. First, as God’s people, we are called to be instructed in Biblical teaching. In other words, we are called to study God’s Word and learn what God wants us to believe about Him and what God requires of us as His people. But this study is not simply to be about information, but transformation – secondly, we are called to be conformed to God’s truth. God calls us to apply our knowledge of His Word and have lives that are characterized by the fruit of the Spirit.
One of the main ways we accomplish these two goals is through Small Groups. Groups of men and women gather together throughout the year to study God’s Word and encourage one another in their faith. Groups are formed and organize themselves around the beginning of the school year and run from August to May. For more information about small groups at St. Andrews, visit the “Small Groups” page under the “Connect” tab on this website. Or, please feel free to call Bill Douglas at (706) 327-7750 and he can help you find a group to get involved in.
Another way in which we fulfill these two purposes here at St. Andrews is through Adult Sunday School. Adult Sunday School is held on Sunday mornings from 9:30 to 10:20 AM every Sunday from January to November. (We take off the month of December to focus on the Advent season.) We are blessed to have many gifted Bible teachers here at St. Andrews. During the 2007 and 2008 we have focused on books of the Bible, including The Gospel of Mark, Paul’s Letter to the Philippians, the Old Testament books of Joshua and Judges, as well as a women’s study of the book of Genesis. Coming to Sunday School is a great way to not only be instructed in God’s Word, but also to meet and make friends with other people at St. Andrews. We highly encourage you to get involved with both of these ministries, Sunday School and Small Groups. They will help you learn God’s Word and be shaped by it.
